Autumn HOA Events: Ideas to Enliven Your Community!

Some HOA management boards are more active than others in terms of planning and orchestrating community events and get-togethers. Truthfully, staging events is not necessarily the primary goal of the HOA, and yet, it is good for the board to be mindful of the measures they can take to increase a sense of community. Encouraging neighbors to enjoy spending time with one another is ultimately good for the community, and for enticing prospective residents to move in.

The beginning of the fall season is a great time to start thinking about ideas for different events that might bring the community together and attract interest from potential residents. Here are a few short ideas to keep in mind as you think about potential HOA events.

  • Do something for the kids. Parents are always looking for activities appropriate for their kids, and providing something that can be done right in their home community is a major perk. Think about doing something like a pumpkin-painting contest for residential children, a festive way to get people together.
  • Get residents involved. Try doing something where residents themselves are the ones providing the entertainment—something like a talent show. This is a terrific way to help neighbors get to know each other better!
  • Do some community outreach. Think about doing a community-wide canned goods or warm coat drive, to benefit a local homeless shelter. This not only provides help to those in need, but it shows the community itself to be a caring place, and might even generate some positive publicity. This is a terrific way to attract the attention of potential residents from outside your immediate community.

Of course, these things are contingent upon budget and the interest of residents, but planning some small hoa events to generate a sense of community spirit never hurts, and could ultimately engender some positive feelings from those in your surrounding area.
