4 Ways Homeowners Can Support the HOA

When a family buys a home, it’s about more than the physical structure they’ll be living in. It’s also about the neighborhood and community and finding somewhere that they can put down roots. In many cases, this means joining an HOA. While every HOA has its pros and cons, the ultimate goal is to protect property value and create a positive environment for homeowners.  Whether you are new to HOA living or have lived in an HOA your whole life, there are many ways that you can support the community where you live:

  1. Be a Good Neighbor

This is one of the easiest ways you can support the HOA. Familiarize yourself with the governing documents, abide by the rules, and be kind to others. If you have an issue with the HOA or a recommendation for change, follow the proper procedures for bringing it up. Try to resolve disputes with neighbors peaceably and fairly. Consider things from their perspective and reach a mutual agreement. Also, be respectful of your neighbors and promote positive relationships.

  1. Be an Advocate

When talking with friends or community members, speak positively of your HOA community. Encourage others to see for themselves what makes your neighborhood so great. Think about all of the benefits of living there and what you enjoy most. If you want to attract good neighbors, it’s important to be one yourself and set a good example.

  1. Volunteer for a Committee

Looking to get more actively involved? Put your talents to good use by joining an HOA committee. This will enable you to play a role in decision making and help support the future of your neighborhood. See what options exist and what interests you. Don’t see what you’re looking for? Talk to the HOA board about starting a new committee and why it would be beneficial!

  1. Join the HOA Board

If you’re passionate about the well-being of your community and want to be an integral part of making decisions and planning for the future, join the HOA board. This gives you a better opportunity to share your ideas and work toward changes that benefit all members. Instead of complaining about the HOA, do your part to make it better by getting involved.

It takes teamwork, cooperation, and active involvement to keep the HOA running smoothly. Together homeowners, board members, and property managers can create a community that families are proud to call home. Kuester Management Group can help your HOA to get on the right track.
