Preventative Maintenance
CHECKLIST FOR MAINTAINING YOUR HOME
Quarterly
- Drain two gallons of water from water heater to remove sediment from the bottom of tank
- Test smoke and CO2 detectors
- Check circuit breakers and fuses
- Clean air filters
- Replace air filters
- Check refrigerator/freezer door seal
- Check faucets, hoses, bibs, commodes and shut off valves for leaks
- Check vent hood filters
Spring/Fall
- Inspect and clean gutters and downspouts
- Pressure wash exterior
- Protect hose bibs from freezing
- Check caulking around sinks, bathtubs and showers
- HVAC inspections, clean entire unit
- Inspect roof and flashing for damage or loose shingles
- Inspect siding for damage
- Inspect weather stripping on windows and doors for damage or tightness of fit
- Check driveways and sidewalks for cracks, breaks or erosion
- Check for broken or cracked glass and damaged screens
- Check for rotted or damaged wood around windows
- Pest inspection (termites)
