Preventative Maintenance

CHECKLIST FOR MAINTAINING YOUR HOME

Quarterly

  • Drain two gallons of water from water heater to remove sediment from the bottom of tank
  • Test smoke and CO2 detectors
  • Check circuit breakers and fuses
  • Clean air filters
  • Replace air filters
  • Check refrigerator/freezer door seal
  • Check faucets, hoses, bibs, commodes and shut off valves for leaks
  • Check vent hood filters

Spring/Fall

  • Inspect and clean gutters and downspouts
  • Pressure wash exterior
  • Protect hose bibs from freezing
  • Check caulking around sinks, bathtubs and showers
  • HVAC inspections, clean entire unit
  • Inspect roof and flashing for damage or loose shingles
  • Inspect siding for damage
  • Inspect weather stripping on windows and doors for damage or tightness of fit
  • Check driveways and sidewalks for cracks, breaks or erosion
  • Check for broken or cracked glass and damaged screens
  • Check for rotted or damaged wood around windows
  • Pest inspection (termites)
